Komik Dilan Bagian 1
examines the intersection of popular youth literature, visual culture, and nostalgia in contemporary Indonesia through Komik Dilan Bagian 1, the graphic novel adaptation of Pidi Baiq’s hit novel Dilan: Dia adalah Dilanku Tahun 1990. Utilizing a multimodal text analysis and transmedia storytelling framework, this study investigates how the textual narrative of the original novel is translated into a sequential visual medium. Set against the distinct historical backdrop of Bandung in the 1990s, the comic captures the romanticism, youth subculture, and linguistic colloquialisms of the era. This paper analyzes how the comic’s specific art style, panel layouts, and character designs serve to recreate the nostalgic atmosphere that defined the source material. Furthermore, it explores how the comic medium enhances the emotional intimacy between the protagonists, Dilan and Milea, offering readers a highly accessible, sensory-driven interpretation of the text. Ultimately, this study argues that Komik Dilan Bagian 1 is not merely a secondary commercial byproduct, but a vital transmedia text that plays a significant role in preserving 1990s youth nostalgia and redefining modern Indonesian comic book aesthetics for a new generation of readers.
