The Bookaholic Club Hantu-hantu Masa lalu
The Bookaholic Club: Hantu-Hantu Masa Lalu (Ghosts of the Past) is an engaging Indonesian urban fantasy and young adult novel written by Poppy D. Chusfani. Published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama in 2010, it is the highly anticipated second installment in The Bookaholic Club series, blending teenage school drama with ancient magic, mystery, and supernatural elements.
The Synopsis
Four close friends—Des, Tori, Chira, and Erin—who share a deep love for literature, have founded a reading club called The Bookaholic Club. They look forward to a peaceful and relaxing school holiday, planning to host a charitable short story reading competition. To elevate the event's profile and draw a larger audience, they manage to recruit Zara, a glamorous, rising young celebrity, to serve as a guest judge.
However, the moment Zara arrives, their quiet vacation shatters into complete chaos:
Erin faces the exhausting, unfortunate task of acting as Zara's personal host and handler while the high-maintenance actress stays at her house.
Chira, who desperately needs to focus on studying for a critical university scholarship exam, finds her attention completely derailed by a series of complications unintentionally triggered by Zara.
Des, who possesses a mysterious family inheritance, begins receiving relentless new demands and commands from Katrina—her ancient ancestor who originally left behind a powerful, secret book of magic.
Tori, feeling ill-equipped to handle the escalating weirdness, does his best to support the group by translating and reading the ancient mystical runes within Des’s magic book.
What started as a simple celebrity collaboration fast spirals into a supernatural nightmare. The group discovers that a literal ghost is tailing them wherever they go. Worse, Zara’s presence has inadvertently unsealed dark threats and terrifying memories they thought had been destroyed forever. To save their holiday and protect themselves, the book-loving teenagers must decipher the secrets of the past before the shadows catch up to them.
