Saving Francesca Tolong Aku Dong!
Sixteen-year-old Francesca Spinelli is already having a rough time adjusting to her new life. She has just been transferred to St. Sebastian’s, a formerly all-boys school that has only recently started accepting girls. Out of hundreds of students, Francesca is one of only thirty girls, and she feels completely out of place, desperately missing her old friends and her comfortable old school.
Francesca’s world completely shatters one morning when her mother, Mia, fails to get out of bed. Mia is usually a fiercely vibrant, vocal, and boundary-pushing force of nature who runs the household and constantly challenges Francesca to be independent. Seeing her mother suddenly collapse into a severe, unresponsive clinical depression completely paralyzes the family. Francesca's father is overwhelmed, her little brother is confused, and the house falls into a heavy, silent despair.
With the pillar of her family gone, Francesca feels utterly lost. The subtitle "Tolong Aku Dong!" perfectly captures her internal, desperate cry for someone to rescue her from the suffocating weight of her new reality.
