The Old Man and The Sea
Santiago is an old, experienced fisherman in Cuba who has gone 84 days without catching a single fish. He is considered salao — the worst form of unluckiness. Because of this, the parents of his young apprentice and devoted friend, Manolin, have forced the boy to leave Santiago to work on more successful boats. Still, Manolin continues to care for the old man, bringing him food, helping him haul his gear, and discussing American baseball (particularly their hero, Joe DiMaggio).
