Liam O'Connor, Maddy Carter, and Sal Vikram are the TimeRiders—three teenagers rescued from the very moment of their deaths to serve in a highly classified agency. Their sole purpose is to live outside of time in a New York City bubble and protect the timeline from being altered by time-traveling terrorists.

The crisis in this book begins in 2001 when a brilliant British computer hacker named Adam Lewis discovers a complex mathematical code hidden deep within the pages of the Voynich Manuscript (a real-world, famously undecipherable medieval text). The team realizes that this code is actually a message left by a rogue time-traveling agent. If it is fully deciphered, it threatens to completely unravel human history and trigger a temporal apocalypse.

To fix the timeline, Liam and his loyal, terrifyingly strong cyborg protector, Bob, are sent back to 12th-century Medieval England—the dangerous, brutal era of King Richard the Lionheart and Prince John. Their mission is to navigate the treacherous depths of Sherwood Forest, track down the rogue agent, and prevent the "Doomsday Code" from ever being written. Meanwhile, back in the 2001 New York field office, Maddy and Sal must contain the hacker and deal with the looming, tragic shadow of the September 11 attacks as they desperately fight to keep the portal open for Liam’s safe return.
