Tidur Berbantal Koran

---

Tidur Berbantal Koran is a captivating memoir and cultural chronicle written by the legendary Indonesian journalist, Alwi Shahab. Drawing from his decades of experience as a senior reporter, Shahab provides a vivid, nostalgic, and often humorous look into the shifting landscape of Jakarta and the gritty reality of Indonesian journalism from the mid-20th century onward. The title itself serves as a powerful metaphor for the dedication, hardships, and unyielding spirit of journalists who often sacrificed personal comfort for the sake of uncovering the truth.

Beyond his personal anecdotes as a pressman, Shahab skillfully weaves in the rich history of Jakarta (Betawi), capturing its transformation from a traditional, tight-knit society into a bustling modern metropolis. Through a collection of light yet deeply insightful essays, the book documents the daily struggles of ordinary citizens, political upheavals, and the unique cultural quirks that define the capital city.
