The story follows the adolescent years of Ikal (the alter-ego of the author), his charismatic and rebellious cousin Arai, and their brilliant but deeply impoverished friend Jimbron.

Left orphaned at a young age, Arai is taken in by Ikal’s family. Rather than becoming bitter, Arai becomes a beacon of optimism for Ikal, introducing him to the magic of having a dream. Under the guidance of their visionary high school vice-principal, Pak Balia, the boys dare to anchor a massive dream in their minds: to study at the Sorbonne in Paris, France, and travel the world.
