Skipping Christmas - Absen Natal
The story follows Luther and Nora Krank, a couple who decide that since their daughter is away in the Peace Corps, they have no reason to celebrate Christmas. They resolve to "skip" the holiday entirely, refusing to put up decorations, host parties, or buy gifts. Instead, they plan to spend the money they would have spent on the holidays on a luxury Caribbean cruise.
However, their plan faces an immediate and hilarious backlash from their neighbors, friends, and the entire community of Hemlock Street. The couple is branded as social pariahs by a neighborhood committee obsessed with Christmas spirit and winning the neighborhood's annual decorating contest. The plot escalates into a series of comedic confrontations as the Kranks try to maintain their resolve against intense peer pressure—until a last-minute phone call from their daughter, who is returning home for the holidays, throws their "no-Christmas" plan into total chaos.
