Glamo Girls
Ever since she was 10 years old, Rosalie Wright has had her eyes on the skies. The farmer’s daughter dreams of becoming an aviatrix. But at 18, just as she’s about to earn her pilot’s license, Britain enters World War II and civilian aviation is grounded. Her dream is put on hold. Then her father dies, leaving Rosalie, her mother, and her brothers to run the family farm.
Everything changes when Rosalie learns that the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) is recruiting women pilots to ferry warplanes across Britain to RAF bases. Despite her mother’s objections, Rosalie can’t resist the call of her country – or the lure of the skies.
During training on Gipsy Moth aircraft, Rosalie befriends fellow flyer Caroline Andrews. With her trusty Ferry Pilots Notebook by her side, Rosalie soon delivers planes to five airfields a day. But she faces an endless battle against skeptical male pilots and ground crews who don’t think women belong in the cockpit.
