The Iliad
The Iliad is an ancient Greek epic poem attributed to the poet Homer, composed likely in the 8th century BCE. Written in dactylic hexameter, it is one of the oldest and most foundational works of Western literature.
Set during the final weeks of the decade-long Trojan War, the epic does not cover the entire war (omitting both the famous Trojan Horse and the fall of the city), but instead focuses intensely on a few weeks of devastating conflict sparked by a single, explosive event: the wrath of Achilles.
