The Swiss Family Robinson
The Swiss Family Robinson is a classic adventure novel by Swiss clergyman Johann David Wyss, first published in 1812. Inspired by Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, the novel was originally edited and published by Wyss's son, Johann Rudolf Wyss, before being translated into English by Mary Jane Godwin. The story chronicles the survival, resourcefulness, and triumphs of a shipwrecked Swiss family who manage to build an extraordinary, self-sustaining tropical paradise on a deserted island.
