The Three Musketeers
The story is set in 1625 during the reign of King Louis XIII and follows d'Artagnan, an ambitious, impoverished young nobleman from Gascony. Armed with a letter of introduction to M. de Tréville, the captain of the King's Musketeers, d'Artagnan leaves his family home in the countryside and rides to Paris to seek fame, fortune, and a career in the military.
Upon arriving in Paris, d'Artagnan’s fiery temper and eagerness lead him to accidentally offend three of the King's finest and most feared musketeers in a single afternoon: Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. He receives a challenge to a duel from all three men, to be fought consecutively at different times.
However, just as d'Artagnan prepares to fight his first duel, guards of the powerful Cardinal Richelieu arrive to arrest the musketeers for violating the royal edict against dueling. Refusing to submit to the Cardinal's men, d'Artagnan joins forces with Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. Together, they easily defeat the guards, cementing a fierce, lifelong brotherhood captured by their immortal motto: "All for one, one for all."
